Grants

The Fenton Education Foundation (FEF) is proud to be able to award $15,000.00 per year in grant dollars to help Fenton educators and other staff members make an impact on students' lives in the areas of Academics, Arts, and Athletics. Since the FEF was founded, we have awarded well over $200,000.00 in grant dollars to support our students and staff in the classroom, on the sports field, and throughout our community!

TLC Coffee Cart

Students delivering Coffee to teachers for the TLC Coffee Cart! This has been an excellent chance for our students to get out of their comfort zone and practice appropriate communication and social skills with others in the building.

Featured Project

STEM Materials

New STEM materials for the Tomek-Eastern Media Center. KEVA planks and Strawbees.

Featured Project

iPads and Stands

Students in Mrs. Bruno's art class are using new iPads and stands to photograph their artwork and upload it to their digital portfolio. This helps students learn about art presentation, and with these tools, students have been able to take ownership of how their work is presented digitally.

Flexible Seating Choices

Thank you to the Fenton Education Foundation for approving my grant request. My 2nd graders were thrilled with the classroom materials I was able to purchase with my FEF grant! They absolutely love the new flexible seating choices and use them daily around the room as comfortable options while they do their school work. The camping chairs and the soft stools both provide and promote a comfortable learning environment for my students' best success. The leveled chapter books I was able to purchase are also a big hit! These books are being shared, read, and talked about by my students, who have a wide range of reading abilities. This is exciting for them as growing readers and for me to be able to witness them practicing their reading skills while enjoying reading! Thank you so much! Mechelle Clarke, 2nd Grade Teacher at State Road Elementary

Alternative Seating Options

HOkki Stools

One example of how grant money has been put into action is through the grant awarded to Megan Martin, one of our AGS Middle School teachers, for alternative seating options.  Megan utilized her grant money to purchase HOkki Stools for her classroom.

The HOkki is an ergonomic, custom-sized stool with a convex base that transforms stationary sitting into an activity.  The stool allows for rocking, twisting and turning and provides much needed movement for kids and adds visual appeal to any room. It is ideal for brainstorming sessions and other active sitting environments. You're moving, even when you seem to be sitting still.

This is just one example of how funds raised through the Fenton Education Foundation are being put into action in the classroom.

Tigers Inc.

Fenton Education Foundation supported the purchased of two screen printers for the Tigers Inc. program at both the Golf Outing and the Black Tie event. Funds were used to purchase equipment and initial start-up materials. This is an exciting opportunity for entrepreneurship, collaboration, and leadership on the part of both students and teachers within our district.

Special Project

New Band Uniforms

Andy Perkins, High School Band Teacher, identified the band uniforms as a significant need.  They were old, worn out and well used.  In fact, the average life span of a marching band uniform is 15 - 20 years.  As the current uniforms were purchased in 1999, Mr. Perkins was able to articulate that now was the time to plan, fundraise and ultimately purchase the new uniforms in time for the 2018-19 school year.  The Foundation added this request to our auction at our Annual Black Tie Dinner where the generous donations of numerous families were able to bring in $8,000 towards the uniform purchase.

In addition, The Archbold family created a memorial fund through FEF to remember Bob Archbold, FHS Class of 1985 who passed away in 2015. FEF assists in the administration of the $50,000 multi-year fund that will enable the Fenton band to provide an annual scholarship, contribute to the marching band’s uniform efforts and help provide funding for individual band members and events. As a result of the Foundation's efforts, and others in the Fenton community, Mr. Perkins has said that they are on track for unveiling them in Fall 2018.
