Calling All Young Artists! Enter the FEF and Fenton Fire Department Ladder Truck Coloring Contest

The Fenton Education Foundation (FEF) and the Fenton Fire Department are teaming up for an exciting opportunity that combines creativity, community pride, and a bit of local history! We're thrilled to announce a special Art Contest open to all students in Fenton Area Public Schools, grades Y5 through 12. DEADLINE EXTENDED to May 9th

What’s the Occasion?

To celebrate the arrival of the new Fenton ladder truck, three lucky student artists will be selected to participate in the ceremonial “Push-In”—a firehouse tradition that dates back to the days when horse-drawn wagons had to be physically pushed back into the station. It’s a rare and meaningful experience, and the winners will also get to be among the first to ride in the bucket of the new truck!

Who Can Enter?

Students in the following grade categories are eligible:

Y5 – 5th Grade

6th – 8th Grade

9th – 12th Grade

One winner from each group will be selected by Fire Chief Robert Cairnduff.

What to Create

Draw and color your very own ladder truck! It could be in action responding to an emergency, parked proudly at a fire station, or capturing the spirit of our local firefighters.

Art Guidelines:

  • Use traditional art supplies: crayons, colored pencils, markers, watercolor, or paint
  • No digital art, tracing, or copying existing images
  • Artwork must be created on 8.5” x 11” paper
  • Be original and creative!

How to Submit

Every submission must include a completed entry form and the student’s name, age, grade, teacher, and school. Forms will be available through your teacher, at school, and the link below. Each classroom teacher will collect their submissions and turn them in to the main office by NOON on May 9.

Prizes & Recognition

The three winning entries will:

  1. Participate in the official ladder truck “Push-In” ceremony
  2. Be among the first riders in the bucket
  3. Have their artwork featured on:
  • Fenton Education Foundation social media and website
  • Fenton Fire Department and City of Fenton websites
  • Displayed at Fenton City Hall

All other entries will be proudly displayed at the Fenton Community Center.

We can’t wait to see how our young artists capture the heart and heroism of our local firefighters. Get those markers ready and let your creativity shine—submissions are due by NOON on May 9!
